Justin, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
One of the proudest moments recently for us at Grabouski Chiropractic was being named Favorite Chiropractor in The Kansas City Star’s Favorites awards. It was an incredible recognition of the trust and support our patients have shown us. I couldn’t be more grateful for my amazing team here and the opportunity to make a positive impact on our community’s health and well-being.

Family Chiropractor in Overland Park, KSCan you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve always had a passion for helping people live healthier, pain-free lives, which led me to pursue family chiropractic as a career. What sets our Overland Park practice apart is our patient-centered approach—each treatment plan is tailored to fit the unique needs of the individual. We focus on not just pain relief, but also long-term wellness.

Our team strives to create an environment where patients feel heard, valued, and empowered to take charge of their health. Whether it’s helping someone recover from an injury or simply supporting overall well-being, our goal is always the same: to help people of all ages live their best lives, pain-free.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I grew up on a family farm in Nebraska with two brothers, so from a young age, hard work was a way of life. We were always busy with chores, and that, along with watching my hardworking parents, taught me the value of discipline, responsibility, and perseverance. There was no ‘clocking out’—it was about getting the job done no matter what.

I played many sports growing up, so when I transitioned to college baseball, that work ethic only deepened. Coach Jef Field ran a stringent program, pushing us to not only excel athletically but also to develop a mindset of excellence in everything we did. He emphasized the importance of striving for the best version of yourself, both on and off the field. That mentality has stuck with me through my career as a chiropractor.

I believe in giving my all to each patient and creating a culture of care, not just in healing, but in providing long-term well-being and support. The combination of my upbringing and time in athletics instilled in me a relentless drive to care for others and always pursue excellence in everything I do.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
Recently, I had a significant shift in perspective regarding a major business decision after focusing more on balance. I’ve been working on setting better boundaries, recognizing that life is short, and the key to being “successful” is not just in business, but in the quality of the time I spend with my family and on the things I truly love.

I’ve come to understand that the finite hours in each day should be spent wisely—whether that’s giving my patients the best care I can, making sure I’m present for my loved ones, or carving out time for personal passions. It’s a lesson in prioritizing what truly matters, and it’s been a reminder to keep the main things the main things.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?

Absolutely! The version of me you see in the office is the real me (maybe a little less caffeinated than at home). I believe in being genuine and transparent, both as a chiropractor and as a person. In practice, I’m a bit more focused and intentional, but I still like to have fun with my patients. And the core of who I am—someone who genuinely cares about people—never changes. There can’t be any incongruence between how I show up in my personal life and my professional life. To truly care for people, it has to be authentic, because people can pick up on it, and I carry that sincerity with me in everything I do.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace after giving my day my all, knowing I’ve done my best to serve my patients and make a positive impact. Then, it’s all about coming home to my wife and our rescue dogs and unwinding together. I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s a walk or just sitting on the back porch in the evenings. There’s something about that simplicity and connection that really grounds me and brings a sense of calm. It’s those moments with family and the quiet time outside that remind me to appreciate the balance in life.
